The purpose of OSSLT is to determine whether a student has achieved the minimus standard in reading and writing. The test is boased on subjects on Grade 9.
The key skills that students need to demonstrate are reading and writing.
Reading:
1. understanding clearly stated ideas and information
2. understanding implied ideas and information
3. connecting personal experience with ideas and information
Writing:
1. developing a main ideas with enough supporting details
2. organizing information and ideas ina coherent way
3. using correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Graduation Requirement:
The student needs to pass the OSSLT to get Ontario Secondary School Diploma. The school office will record the student’s successful completion on his/her Provincial Report Card and on the Ontario Student Transcript.
